Lab A Andrew

I was pretty focused going into Lab A even with minimal teaching experience. I felt like my performance was alright at best but I felt like there were things that could have been better. I took up way too much time with the first presentation and I wasn't quite prepared for either one. I kicked myself for referring to the class as "guys" because I feel that is a mistake I shouldn't make. I did however feel that I established my signals and procedures with the class well enough in my first attempt but according to Chapter 4 in the text, I should make a routine to begin class so the students know when its time to begin. I also feel that my communication with the class was pretty good when giving the class some instructions on what to do, referring to Chapter 4 as well. Being over my ideal weight and having a harder time when it comes to participating in physical activity for long periods of time, I hold myself to a higher standard when it comes to teaching so I feel that Lab A was good but there is always room for improvements.

  1. Andrew, I thought that there were many aspects of your lab that were creative and unique. I like how you used the plates to introduce frisbee to everybody. It got our attention and even let us have some fun throwing the plates. Your 1st attempt did take a lot of time, but you learned from it and your 2nd attempt was better. Overall your lab was very interesting and it kept me hooked the whole time.

  2. I enjoyed your presentation a lot because you got me "hooked" right away with the throwing of the plates. The history background of frisbee was also a good touch. Your presentation was fun and caught everyones attention which is key.

  3. Hi Andrew,

First off, great hook! It made students interested in what you were teaching and it got them active so awesome job. Make sure that you are READY to teach. Both times you had to go back to your backpack to grab your stuff and make yourself presentable. Always keep your stuff near so that you are ready to go when it is your turn. Don't kick yourself for saying guys, it still slips out for most of us since we are so used to saying it, in time you will say it less and less. Great start!!
